Santa Clara is located in the northwest area of Eugene, situated north of Beltline road, between the Northwest Expressway and the Willamette River. The area to the north and west of Santa Clara is primarily rural farmlands.

Santa Clara is primarily residential in nature, consisting of both new construction and established neighborhoods. There are older farmhouses sprinkled among the neighborhoods, and their character and gardens contribute to the rural charm of Santa Clara. Many of the established neighborhoods have large lots sizes, making them attractive to gardeners.

There are many local merchants located along River Road, and larger markets and department stores like Fred Meyers can be found in and near Santa Clara Square, at River Road and Beltline. Just west of Santa Clara, at Beltline and Hwy 99, is Jerry's Home Improvement Center. Jerry's is not only local to Eugene and Springfield, it's the world's largest Ace Hardware store. To the north of Santa Clara are several produce farms where fresh fruit, vegetables, and other local products can be purchased when they are in season.
